In addition to healthcare, the institute is engaged in educational and scientific research activities in the fields of nuclear medicine, medical physics, radiopharmacy, radiochemistry and radiology. The institute is a teaching and scientific base of the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje and also cooperates with the University “Goce Delchev” in Shtip. In addition to cooperation with universities in the country, UI PET cooperates with universities abroad and is involved in projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
