Radiation Protection Officer
Nuclear Medicine Physicist
After obtaining his BSc degree in applied physics in 2004 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” – Skopje, Sasho Nikolovski started with his professional career at the Ionizing Radiation Laboratory within the National Public Health Institute – Skopje in the field of radiation protection and dosimetry. His main responsibilities have been related with personal dosimetry of the occupationally exposed individuals in Macedonia with TLDs, positioning and developing a quality control programme for the x-ray machines in diagnostic radiology departments on a national level, workplace monitoring and radiation risk assessment based on the measurements.
In 2012 he made a step further in his academic career joining the Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Biomedical Engineering (CEMACUBE) at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands and the Ghent University, Belgium with the focus on medical imaging and radiation physics. After defending his master thesis “Evaluation of patient-specific dosimetry methodologies for radionuclide therapy” he graduated from the programme in September 2014, obtaining a double degree from both universities.
After his return back in Macedonia he was hired by our Institute as a medical physicist but he also serves as a Radiation Protection Officer. In 2020 he became a Nuclear Medicine Physicist after completion of his clinical specialization in Medical Physics in Nuclear Medicine.
During his professional career, Sasho Nikolovski acquired his in-depth-knowledge and expertise in the area of medical and health physics not only through his educational and professional path but also through numerous training courses, mainly organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency and several long-term fellowships in European and International settlement (Ruđer Bošković Institute – Zagreb, Croatia; Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark; Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at the Vienna Medical Faculty – Austria; Bologna University Hospital “St. Orsola-Malpighi” – Italy; Japanese Institute for Chemical Analysis in Chiba, Japan).
